PROBLEMS OF SUCCESS

You have no doubt been experiencing problems in connecting to our web-site over the last couple of days. Well, it appears that we had insufficient 'Band Width'. Jonny-Mac, who looks after our site informs us that over the last year, the number of hits we have received, (ie: the number of times that people have logged on and/or downloaded mp3's or pics) multiplied ten fold. Consequently we simply ran out of space. We have now purchased some more 'Band Width' space and hopefully this has solved the problem. We apologise for the inconvenience but look forward to having the same problem again soon.

TALON LAND MAJOR PLAYER

After an exhaustive search of over three months and sixty prospective candidates, Talon are thrilled to announce that Keith Buck of Wishbone Ash will be our special guest musician throughout 2008.

"After three great years, I did not believe that there was anything that could tempt me away from Wishbone Ash. However, when the chance came to play the music of the Eagles with such a superb band as Talon, I knew that this was an opportunity that I could not let slip away", said Keith.

Keith will feature on Pedal Steel, Acoustic & Electric Guitars plus Keyboards, Mandolin, Banjo and Background Vocals. Come and say hello to our new star. See you all soon on... Take It Easy To 'Eden.

SO LONG DEREK

After over three years the outstanding Pedal Steel talent of Derek Thurlby will tomorrow night be playing his last gig as Talon’s resident guest musician. Over the years Talon have used many Pedal Steel players and many guest musicians and we have been very lucky to be able to secure his talent for such a long time. We are however thrilled that Derek has agreed to come and join us from time to time throughout the coming year . In the meantime we wish him the best of luck in finding the position where his heart truly lies – in the traditional country music scene.

THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW

With still over a week to go the 10th Anniversary Show at our spiritual home venue,
the Robin 2 has completely… SOLD OUT.

All the invitations have gone out and we are thrilled to announce that most of them have been accepted. The present line-up of Jonny Miller, Chris Lloyd, Peter Anderson, Simon Millest and Tony Vegas hope to be joined by original members Mark Jones and Conrad Carpenter. Mark (the original Bass player) who now lives in the West of Ireland has informed us that he will be flying in the day before and that he would not have missed it for the world. As yet we are still awaiting a positive response from Con but we have our fingers firmly crossed. It would be amazing to see the seven Talon members all on stage at the same time.

Also appearing on the show will be ‘Illegal Eagles’ brilliant ex lead singer, Ray Brown. On the 3rd of December 2006, Chris had completely lost his voice and could not perform, so Ray stepped in and saved the day.
They have been the best of friends ever since.

Talon will also be joined by several guest players that have featured over the years. Tracy Neale (the very first guest musician back in October 2000), will be joining us from his home in Dubai. Derek Thurlby (Pedal Steel) will be playing his final gig as the resident guest. Craig Wainwright will augment on Piano and Keyboards with Andy Coyle completing the line-up on Alto and Tenor Saxophones.

During the show we will present a cheque to the ChildLine representative Sanitta Guddu for the amount donated by Talon audiences throughout our 10th Anniversary year. Let’s hope it’s at least £10,000. Keeping a record of the whole event will be Talon’s official photographer Jason Sheldon. ‘Talon Weekenders’ will be well aware of Jason. He has worked with some of the worlds greatest bands including the Eagles themselves on their last U.K. visit. He is also responsible for the more recent website pic’s and the Talon brochure.

The doors will open at 8PM and the show will be presented by good friend and Talon fan, Paul Franks of B.B.C. Radio W.M. ‘Franksy’ will be on stage at 9PM to introduce...
Talon - The 10th Anniversary Show.

Let’s just hope we can fit everyone on the stage…

WORLD CLASS TRIBUTE SERIES

World Class Tribute Series – Triple Header
@ The Echo Arena, Liverpool
Starring: Talon, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac & Nearly Dan

Concert Promoter Live@pool Ltd proudly presents its inaugural Echo Arena Liverpool event, a 'World Class Tribute Series-Triple Header' on Saturday 26th April 2008 featuring the very finest recreations of 70’s West Coast legends…
The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac & Steely Dan.

All three bands are celebrating ten years on the road, having each formed during 1997, and together they've performed literally thousands of concerts, honing their skills further each year to the point where numerous classic hits are executed with consummate professionalism… Talon are a touring band of high octane energy, undertaking around 130 shows this year alone, such is the demand for their product. As their captivating show starts, count around 15 guitars stacked on various stands. Rest assured none of it is for show, they're all needed to deliver mighty rock and country rock masterpieces like the fabulous Hotel California, One Of These Nights, New Kid In Town and Lyin' Eyes, to name but a few. Talon are currently debating which of the tracks from the brand new Eagles 'Long Road Out Of Eden' album might squeeze their way into contention in a highly competitively chosen set listing... It's fitting that in the European Capital of Culture year 2008 that Rumours of Fleetwood Mac are a Liverpool based outfit. They'll take great pride in being amongst the first local musicians to tread the boards of the highly impressive Echo Arena stage to relive, amongst others, many of the 70’s Rumours standards like Dreams and You Make Loving Fun (tracks from one of the biggest selling albums of all time)… Considering Steely Dan toured very little from the mid-seventies, Nearly Dan, with their obsessive attention to detail, manage to extremely effectively reproduce various brilliant studio conceived Jazz Rock tracks with amazing live accuracy. They've built an enviable reputation throughout Britain and beyond with their array of guitar, keyboard, vocal /backing vocals and sax section skills. Sit back and indulge in numbers such as Dirty Work, Reelin’ In The Years and Ricky Don't Lose That Number.

At just £19.50 per ticket (plus a £2.50 per ticket booking fee & a one off £1.50 handling fee), Live@pool Ltd is offering a unique opportunity to experience three highly charged hours of renowned 70’s Soft Rock in the awesome new Echo Arena Liverpool at a very affordable price. With many loyal devotees of each band wanting to snap up early seats together with the perfect musical fit these three acts provide, expect demand to be extremely high to say the least!!

The Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool is a £146m project on the city’s famous King’s Waterfront, due to open in January 2008. It will house the 10,600 seat Liverpool Echo Arena, designed to attract high-profile entertainment and sporting events. The adjoining convention centre will have 1,350 seats, a 3725 square metre multi-purpose hall and 18 further meeting rooms offering complete flexibility. Total exhibition space is in excess of 7,000 square metres.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Talon would like to wish everyone a very ‘Happy New Year’. 2007 was a year that will live forever in our memory. Now with Christmas behind us we turn our thoughts to 2008. We have lots of new and exciting plans in the pipeline for this coming year and we will keep you all up to date as things become a little clearer. January is normally a relatively quiet time, but not this year however. We resume our ‘10th Anniversary Tour’ at the Plowright Theatre in Scunthorpe this Friday and build up to Monday 28th at the Robin 2 in Bilston to celebrate exactly ten years since our very first gig. February will see Talon perform their ‘10th Anniversary’ show at the beautiful Buxton Opera House, the web-site will receive its annual makeover and Issue #20 of TALONtalk will go out. March will see us go into Production Rehearsals for our new show and then later that month on Tuesday 25th at the Brew House in Taunton we will begin the new Talon era.

TAKE IT EASY TO ‘EDEN will throw up many new and exciting challenges but we truly believe that it is our willingness to keep an open mind and our ability to embrace change that even after ten years we are still looking forward to another tour and another year with so much enthusiasm. THANK YOU. We find it simply quite amazing and humbling that because of your continued support, even with a decade behind us there are still no signs of this wonderful journey coming to an end any time soon.
