JACK TEMPCHIN CONFIRMED |
|
Talon are extemely proud to announce that the legendary Jack Tempchin will be our very special guest on the forthcoming Spring Tour for three exclusive dates. Jack flies into London from his home just outside San Diego California on the 25th of April and will open the second half of the Talon show with a cameo appearance.
Eagles songwriter Jack Tempchin wrote 'Peaceful Easy Feeling' and 'Already Gone' plus, amongst many others, 'The Girl From Yesterday' and 'Smugglers Blues' with his best buddy and Eagles founder member Glenn Frey. He also contributed on the new 'Long Road Out Of Eden' album with 'Somebody' and 'It's Your World Now'. Jack was at the epicentre of the California revolution in the late 60's early 70's and was part of the inner circle along with J.D.Souther, Jackson Browne,
Glenn Frey and Don Henley that created and witnessed the birth of the Eagles themselves.
Talon will perform the 'Hotel California' album in the first half before Jack takes the stage for his debut performance in the UK to open the second half leaving Talon to close the show with all the classic Eagles hits. Come and hear the man and his music and the story behind those immortal songs that defined a generation.
Jack Tempchin will appear with Talon at the following venues...

PAUL TENNANT DIES |
|
We have recently learned the sad and tragic news that Paul Tennant has died. Paul, of 'Regent St Productions' was instrumental in introducing Talon to Eagles legend Jack Tempchin. Talon would like to convey their deepest sympathy to all his family, friends and associates. The following article is taken from the 'Liverpool Daily Post' by; Laura Jones on Monday the 15th of February 2010...
TRIBUTES TO 1960's LIVERPOOL SONGWRITER PAUL TENNANT.
The first songwriter to be signed by Brian Epstein to APPLE, Paul Tennant, has died at the age of 64. The Liverpool musician and father-of-three was at the very epicentre of the sixties music scene both in Liverpool and London and witnessed first hand the pressure cooker birth of APPLE PUBLISHING in 1967. Reflecting on his career at the most exciting period in British pop music Tennant wrote his autobiography in 2008. 'ALL YOU NEED IS LUCK... OR HOW I GOT A RECORD DEAL BY MEETING PAUL McCARTNEY' recalled his time spent with the Beatles and Epstein. Peter Foldy's FILMSTREET PRODUCTIONS in Los Angeles have now acquired the motion picture rights to the story. In the past Sir Paul McCartney has spoken about Tennant’s work in the industry saying: “Paul Tennants’s story about Liverpool and his year with APPLE is fascinating. I am pleased to have played a small part in it.” Following the announcement of Tennant’s death, friend James Norris spoke on behalf of friends and family. He said: “Paul’s charm and enthusiasm for music and for his many friends will be sadly missed throughout the world.”
Paul is survived by his daughter Michelle, sons Alan, Jack and grandchildren Harriet and Matilda.

THE SONG THAT JACK WROTE |
|
The following news item is an extract from an article written by Anni Lloyd
taken from the latest issue of 'TALON talk'...
A few months ago we got a very interesting e-mail. It was from a London based Music & Film Company wondering if we knew of Jack Tempchin. The Company was representing the said gentlemen in the UK and was looking for a partnership. We e-mailed straight back and said that we of course knew of Jack Tempchin. A legend in all things Eagles related. This is the man who wrote ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’, ‘Already Gone’, ‘Somebody’ and 'It's Your World Now' from ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’ amongst countless other hits. A name that the guys have been mentioning on stage for many years. Yes, we certainly knew of this man.
A meeting was quickly set up with Paul Tennant and Tom Jennings from Regent St Productions, they came up and saw our show in Milton Keynes and we learned that Jack Tempchin had expressed an interest in coming over to the UK for some concerts and that he wanted to do it in association with Talon. To say that we got excited about the prospect of having Jack Tempchin on stage with us is an understatement. The next step was to meet up with the man himself. Then we got very lucky. Two days after our final autumn gig at the Robin 2, Jack Tempchin was opening for Timothy B Schmit (yes the one from the Eagles) at a concert just outside San Diego, California on the 21st of December. Chris and I got the job to cancel Christmas and instead fly over to see the gig and have a chat with the legend himself. The concert was fantastic with both Tim Schmit and Jack on top form. The next day we were invited to dinner with Jack, his beautiful wife Sheryl, his manager Bradshaw Lambert, Paul Tennant of Regent St and Hollywood Film Director Peter Foldy. Wow! We had an amazing time and to listen to Jack and his wonderful stories of how these immortal songs came about with his best friend and writing buddy Glenn Frey was both enthralling and a privilege.
If all goes to plan, you people as Talon fans, will have the unique opportunity to see Jack Tempchin on stage with our boys for three exclusive dates during our forthcoming Spring Tour. There is much to arrange but rest assured we are working hard to make this happen so please keep an eye on the website for any breaking news.
The curious fan can learn more about Jack at... www.peacefuleasyfeeling.com

NEW DATE FOR BEDWORTH |
|
Because of the England World Cup game clashing with the original time and date for Talon's visit to Bedworth Civic Hall, an alternative date has been found. We can now confirm that the re-arranged date is Sunday 6th June 2010. Showtime at 7-30PM. Tickets will go on sale soon. Unfortunately, we had already gone to print with the Spring Tour flyer so it will still be showing the original date. However, the website is now up to date and a reminder will be included in the next newsletter which is due in early February. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but felt that this was the best course of action.

WELCOME TO TALON 2010 |
|
Happy New Year. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and welcome to Talon 2010. We have never looked forward to a new year with so much relish and excitement. There is much news to tell over the coming weeks but for now here is a quick run down of how we expect the next couple of months or so to pan out.
First of all we hope you like the new lick of paint that Anni has given the website. We will continue to tinker adding several new features throughout January. The next edition of the newsletter will go out in early February and later that month Jonny, Keith, Chris and Peter will play a few intimate venues around the Midlands with their 'Acoustic Collection' performing contemporary acoustic classics from such artistes as James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver, Crosby Stills & Nash, Michael Jackson, Crowded House and many more. The venues will be included in the forthcoming newsletter and also this news page very soon.
Then in the first week of March we get down to the serious business of putting together our new show for the 'Hotel California' tour which opens at the Banbury Mill on the 10th of March. (Click on TOUR for details). This year, as well as including several new songs we have invested heavily in some Production that we feel confident will take our 'Best Of Eagles' show to the next level.
We hope to see you somewhere on the road at some point during 2010. Bring it on!
